Zone-Balanced Perfect Start Shakes

TWO SMOOTHIES:

Fruit in smoothies should be mostly fresh with just a bit of frozen to make it cold.

bullet

4 scoops of Nikken Perfect Start (berry, vanilla, or chocolate flavor) or 2 scoops of Rice Protein Powder

bullet

2 tsp. Barfy Green Stuff

bullet

1/2 tsp. ground Ginger

bullet

2 blocks of any fresh or frozen fruit

bullet

A few ice cubes if necessary for temperature/texture.

bullet

1/2 tsp. Blackstrap Molasses (very high in minerals and iron)

bullet

Cover fruit with ½ cup to 1 cup of Trinity water.

bullet

Blend and serve. Makes two large glasses (1 for morning, 1 for lunch. Store 2nd in fridge)

For a Zone-balanced Perfect Start meal add 1/2 piece of toast with 1½ tsp. Nut Butter… and one block of protein (about 1 ounce).

Note: It is important to have something to chew with each Smoothie as this helps slow down digestion and stabilizes the blood glucose levels.

Variations:

bullet

Vary the fruit- use peaches, plums, pineapple, papaya, oranges, kiwi or whatever is in season. Frozen melon is good as well.

bullet

Add Flax Seed (lots of anticancer/antioxidants)

bullet

Add Wheat Germ (lots of zinc)

bullet

Add Bran (for fiber)

bullet

Add some kind of nut butter, 2 teaspoons. (I’d rather just eat it, than add it to the smoothie)

bullet

Add 1 Tbsp. Tahini (sesame seed butter- great for SAD and depression)

For the vanilla flavor I mix in cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and ginger. Makes for a very tasty combination.

Tips for Perfect Start Shakes:

One good tip is to mix up enough Perfect Start shake in the morning so that you have extra for the afternoon shake. I mix mine with about 1 ½ cups of PiMag or Trinity water and add 1 cup of fresh or frozen fruit and then grind in a few ice cubes for temperature and consistency. I love the berry flavor with frozen berries. A couple of times a week I add some fresh or frozen cranberries to keep my urinary tract healthy. It’s amazing how many women have low-grade bladder infections they don’t even know about. If you carry your weight in the low belly area and thighs, this is a great tip to follow.

You can also mix the Barfy Green Stuff with a little tomato or Clamato juice for some extra energy when you need it.

Note: Bananas are very hard to digest, have a high glycemic index (which means they shoot sugar into your system too quickly and make for insulin imbalances) and banana alone do not taste very good in Perfect Start shakes that have Barfy Green Stuff in it.
