(Please note that full names are never used in this newsletter or on my website without the full consent of the sender or client. Some cases also encompass groupings of cases with similar symptoms and suggestions for healing in an attempt to educate the general public.) Have you ever heard the phrase, “A boat is a hole in the water where you throw money into”? Well, I’ve always thought that Shark Cartilage is the same thing in the cancer treatment world. I read a blurb last month that stated a three-year study of 384 patients by Houston doctors found that those taking a placebo lived an average of 15.6 months which was one month longer than those patients taking shark cartilage. I guess it’s always bugged me that people who have cancer therapies often take advantage of people with the disease by charging absorbent fees for their products. In general, those natural products that cost a huge amount of money to “cure cancer” are bogus. I think I’ve had only one person muscle-test strong on shark cartilage in the last 15 years of my practice. Love that validation! I’ve been having some weird allergy signs lately: About twice a year I have microwaved low-fat popcorn. This last time I ate a partial bag of the stuff and got a blood blister under my tongue on the frenulum. Weird. This same thing has happened to me this year three times (once when eating Ben and Jerry’s Health Bar ice cream—so much for that flavor anymore!) I finally figured out that the common denominator was “natural butter flavoring.” What the heck IS natural butter flavoring? What’s natural about the flavoring of butter if butter is not in the product? Anyway, I couldn’t get the companies to talk to me because it was “proprietary information,” but providence sent me an article that helped me to figure the whole thing out. . . The September 6, 2007 edition of the Moscow-Pullman Daily News published an article by the Associated Press titled No Government Safety Advice on Home Microwave Popcorn. The article stated that microwave popcorn fans were worried about the potential for lung disease from butter flavoring fumes. Dr. Cecile Rose, lung specialist for 53-year-old Wayne Watson was perplexed as to why Wayne’s condition worsened even with ongoing treatment. Finally, Rose said to Wayne, “This is a very weird question. . .but have you been around a lot of popcorn?” Now, Wayne had a two-pack a day microwaved popcorn habit and had been eating it for many years. “How did you know that about me?” Wayne asked. Wayne pantomimed how he would open the bag at chest level, look down and breathe in the fumes each time he ate popcorn. Apparently, popcorn flavoring contains the chemical diacetyl, which has been linked to lung damage in workers inhaling its fumes in food manufacturing plants. Diacetyl is a naturally occurring compound that gives butter its flavor. It is also found in cheese and even wine according to the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health. (Hmm, two other foods that I can’t eat—just had macaroni and cheese made with sharp cheddar cheese this last week as a treat and my blood pressure when up 20 points within a few minutes! And I feel like a slug for three full days after drinking a small glass of white wine. I thought it was the sulfites. The plot thickens. . .) Diacetyl has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration as a flavoring agent, but hundreds of workers have sued flavoring makers in recent years for lung damage stated the article. Yikes. What we don’t know! I guess some people are much more sensitive than others, but over time, a sensitivity must develop for us allergy-type people. I posted a couple of exercises that I’ve had in my stash of handouts for a long time now. Too many cases in need of the exercise, so I thought I’d convert them to a web page. The Urinary Incontinence Technique often helps women who have had children with that leaky problem. When a woman is pregnant, they body give lots of nutrients to the growing fetus. If those nutrients are not replenished in the body, the ligaments and sphincter muscles that hold the bladder in place and keep the urine in its hollow organ get weakened. For mild cases, this technique helps to set the bladder back where it should be. In severe cases, a bladder tack surgery is still warranted. Many women have exclaimed that they could feel a difference after doing this technique only once. So, good luck! Here’s the link: Urinary Incontinence Technique Energy Vortex Clearing Technique: I’ve cleared lots of houses over the years which were not moving on the real estate market that had negative energy vortexes in them. I had a case like that again this month, and noticed that this technique was not on my website yet, so have included it. I can’t clear ALL the negative energies in a house as some things are just beyond my expertise. I often will refer these cases to a priest, shaman, or energy healer versed in working with entity clearing and moving Hartman lines, but some of these weaker energies, you also can clear using this technique. You must know how to muscle-test to do the technique, but often I’ll have my client mail me a copy of their floor plan and property lines and muscle-test the vortexes for them (for a fee, of course!) They are usually very happy with that and usually the house sells within three months after the clearing. Here’s the link to that handout: Energy Vortex Clearing My complete Warts, Moles and Skin Discolorations handout has been posted.
The expanded version of How to Use Castor Oil Packs is now up.
Book of Lists: A medical student website reader has inspired me to put my “Book of Lists” on my website. I use what I call my, “No Brainer Book” to muscle test literally hundreds of thousands of items to see if any are pertinent to talk about during a consult. This way, I don’t have to depend on some of my other senses (like clairaudience which is sometimes weak during the stress of doing an exam) and can greatly speed up the time it takes to work through a case. The better the list, the more accurate I think we healers can be. And you can use some of those lists to test yourself. I’ve started that process and he has volunteered to type up some of my lists for me. It’s quite the job. I’ll let you know when we’re close to being done.
Warts, Moles, & Funny Skin Discolorations After having oodles of warts and mole cases one month, I noticed a bunch of articles and television shows expounding the benefits of duct tape in getting rid of these pesky things. Apparently the success rate is over 75%. Well, that got me wondering so I extensively researched warts and moles and came up with this information. If the duct tape method doesn’t work, here’s about 58 other natural methods to try! If they fail, I guess you can just have them surgically removed. Whatever toots your horn! Good luck. Dr. MoffatDefinitions:Warts (also called Verruca) can be viral or non-viral in origin and cancerous or non cancerous growth proliferations of skin cells. The most common virus responsible for warts is the Human Papilloma Virus. A Mother Wart is a single wart when, over time, appears to put forth seeds so that new warts grow up around it.Moles or Nevi are proliferations of tissue inside as well as outside the body. Predisposed areas inside the body surround the ovaries and uterus. Moles usually appear after birth and are not flat like birthmarks.Fun Fact: Did you know that you can even have your moles read (like in a face reading only they read your moles?) This is part of the Chinese Art of "Mian Xiang" (check it out at http://www.flickr.com/photos/hey-gem/75173087)Tag Warts or Cutaneous Papillomas or Skin Tags are proliferations of skin that cause an appendage, flap or polyp on the skin. These are usually flesh colored or brown.Red Spots and Marks are called: Strawberry Birthmarks, Red birthmarks, Stork bites, Angioma Cavernosum, Capillary Hemangiomas, Hemangioma Simplex, and Strawberry Marks. These are colored vascular skin markings which develop at or shortly after birth. They are usually painless and harmless with unknown cause and are most commonly on the face, scalp, back, and chest. Ninety-five percent of these disappear by the time a child is nine years of age.Angioma Cavernosum or capillary hemangiomas are red blue and spongy and also go away without treatment.Port Wine Stains and Hemangiomas are flat and usually appear on the face. They are not harmful, but may be emotionally annoying as other people notice them.Salmon Patches or Stork Bites are extremely common in newborns. These are pink or red, flat and common on the head. Generally they fade as the infant grows. Those on the back of the neck may never fade, but the hair usually covers them up.Pigmented Birthmarks, Birthmarks also called Cafe-Au-Lait Spots, Congenital Nevus, Hairy Nevus, Mole, Nevi, and Nevus Sebaceous are areas of pigmented skin with an extra dose of melanin (the hormone that causes you to tan). The color of birthmarks ranges from brown to black, bluish to grey.Red Moles or Small Cherry Angiomas are seen in virtually every individual over 25 years of age. Occasionally they occur sooner. They are not associated with any significant abnormality and tend to increase with age. The extent in number probably is genetically determined.Spider Mole Nevi (Spider angioma or Nevus Araneus) are red skin lesions in the shape of a spider and are common in pregnancy and in liver disease. They most commonly occur on the face and trunk and can be about ½ inch in diameter. Mongolian spots or Mongolian Blue Spots are a non-harmful, non-cancerous type of birthmark that appears on dark-skinned people. These look like a bruise and don’t usually go away. They are usually located on the low back, buttocks, trunk and arms.Causes & Prevention of WartsWarts are an infection of the skin that become those unsightly bumps on various parts of your body or the soles of your feet, and are caused by specific wart viruses. They come and go, sometimes with or without treatment, and sometimes won't go away no matter what treatment is given. Some individuals are more susceptible than others to having warts. As any virus, warts are contagious, but not in the normal sense of being contagious as in catching someone else's cold. The other person needs to be susceptible to the virus. Only genital warts and those around the anus are contagious in the normal sense, and care must be taken not to spread them to others. Warts and moles can be the result of nutritional deficiencies (often potassium) and they should be treated internally, as well as externally with the appropriate nutritional supplement or homeopathic. We use Professional Complementary Health Formulations Wart Formula in our practice with fairly good success and often I will use an herbal wormer formula containing Black Walnut, Wormwood and ground Cloves mixed with a bit of oil to make a poultice to apply on a mole overnight and that will do the trick. Note: Leaving these poultices on for twice the amount of time will burn the skin! General Information about Warts and MolesMoles are spots on the skin, collections of pigment cells, which appear brown, blue, black, or flesh-colored. Some moles have a high risk of becoming cancerous and exposure to the sun can trigger malignant melanoma in moles or previously normal skin. Check with your physician if you notice a change in any mole. There are Five Types of Warts: A wart is a non-cancerous skin growth caused by a viral infection in the skin. In general, warts are pale, skin-colored growths with a rough surface, even borders, and blackened surface capillaries. Normal skin lines do not cross a wart's surface. And, contrary to popular opinion, warts are very shallow growths—they don't have "roots" or "runners" that go down to the bone. Forty to fifty percent of all warts eventually disappear on their own, typically within two years. Children in particular often lose warts spontaneously. 1) The Common wart has an elevated, rough, dry surface, and may occur anywhere on the body but are hard to treat when on fingers or around nails. 2) Flat warts are usually flat, multiple lesions that can occur anywhere: faces, arms, backs of hands and legs are the most common areas. This type is especially common in women who shave their legs and also in bare areas of men. Flat warts are smaller and smoother than other warts and tend to grow in large numbers at any one time. 3) Plantar warts are found on the soles of the feet and are contagious. Plantar warts are frequently picked up in moist areas such as bathrooms, locker rooms and around swimming pools. Keeping your feet dry after being in one of these areas is the best method of prevention. 4) Genital warts (Condyloma or Condylomata acuminata) are found around the genital areas of men and women and around the anus. They can be large and fleshy or look like regular warts and are highly contagious. There are several strains of the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) that can cause these warts and other strains of HPV cause cervical cancer. We carry homeopathic drops for both HPV and STO (Sexually Transmitted Organisms) that works pretty well. Genital warts often occur in clusters and can be very tiny or can spread into large masses in the genital or anal area. Symptoms are less obvious in men, but in women can affect both inside an outside the vagina and anus. Note: If you have had genital warts, you should be tested for cervical cancer at least once every year because HPV is responsible for over 90% of all cervical cancer cases. Cervical cancer can be prevented with regular screening (PAP smears), and can be cured in most cases when it is detected in early stages. Note: Condoms do not protect you from getting warts as the virus can go right through the condom. 5) Warts can also be found on the lips and in the mouth. These appear as small, moist, whitish bumps. This type is not common. Are you sure it’s a wart? Normally, you'd think it would be pretty easy to identify a wart, but it's amazing how many people end up treating skin cancers or other growths as warts. So if you have the slightest doubt about what you're dealing with, see a doctor. For about 60 different natural treatments for warts and moles, go to the Wart and Mole webpage. Castor Oil Packs and How to Do Them This last month I recommended Castor Oil Packs for a variety of maladies including a blocked eustachian tube, gall bladder problems, a spinal tumor and cystic ovaries. One woman called to say the treatment wasn’t working. As we talked through the procedure she determined that she was using Cod liver oil instead of Castor oil. OK, duh. I guess using the correct product works best. You can read the full handout on using Castor Oil Packs including its history, pictures of the plant and reading many of the case studies where Edgar Cayce recommended them in my website under Castor Oil Packs and How To Do Them but here are the basics of using them. Castor Oil Packs Castor oil has a long history of traditional medical use dating back to ancient Egypt. Derived from the castor bean (Ricinus communis), the oil was once used internally as a laxative but is now primarily used externally due to its potential toxicity.
Castor oil packs are used on the skin to increase circulation and to promote
elimination and healing of the tissues and organs underneath the skin. They are
also used to stimulate the liver, relieve pain, increase lymphatic circulation,
reduce inflammation, and improve digestion.

Hi Justine:
I'm testing you and your husband both have a bacterial infections Yes, the
drops would be great, but you don't have them, right? Many of my clients
just store a bottle of each Viral Immune System Stimulator and Bacterial
Immune Stimulator drops in their medicine cabinet for these instances. They
email me they are sick and I then can determine a dosage of drops to take
(often for the entire family!) I could send you a bottle of each for the
future (they are safe to take when pregnant) but for right now. . .
Good luck on the
doctor's appt! Sending baby and healing energy. Denice
Dear Dr. Moffat:
I saw your information about hypothyroidism on natural health techniques. I was
recently advised to take Thytrophin. I have been taking Levoxyl for many
years. Can you tell me if the Thytrophin replaces the Levoxyl or if I need to
take both? Thanks, Kate
Dear Kate: I
would definitely take both in hopes that you can cut way back on the Levoxyl
over time. It takes several months for the Thytrophin to kick in and repair the
unhealthy thyroid cells. There's a lot to that process. Work closely with your
practitioner and ask them for the information sheet on Thytrophin. To help you
understand better, you might want to read my handout on
glandulars and protomorphogens. You may also
want to read my thyroid handout to get some more education on what things
suppress thyroid hormones etc.

Movie Review—Uncorked (Also known as At Sachem Farm)
Uncorked
is a must-see, 5-star movie for anyone who struggles with Life Purpose and not
allowing themselves to do what they love. One of my MasterMind Partners lent me
the movie and told me I must watch it. She had been watching every night before
she went to bed for weeks. I can see why. Here’s the trailer link:
Uncorked Triler
Filmed on a farm in
California’s Simi Valley
this romantic British comedy directed by John Huddles and filmed in part by Mark
Vicente (who also filmed the Celestine Prophecy and What the Bleep Do
We Know) is one of the most enlightened and enjoyable movies I’ve seen.
Sometimes we don’t know what we are good at and think we can’t make money at
what we love, but this movie shows how the Universe and often our own family
conspires for our good in helping us to release the gifts from our souls that
are most aligned with what the world really needs.
As
one reviewer writes about the film:
Why does a holy man
sit alone atop a mountain? Answer: To gain perspective. Which in the end is what
this film is all about-- finding the right perspective on life; figuring out
what it is you were truly meant to do or be. And it points out nicely that the
wisest among us are often the very ones we are prone to ignore or dismiss.
Uncorked ("At Sachem Farm"), is a small film that in the end has a
substantial message that is profound. Some people found it slow in the
beginning, but all reviewers loved the movie by the end.
Rufus Sewell
plays Ross, the bungling entrepreneur who lives with his uncle Cullen (Nigel
Hawthorne) and brother Paul (Michael Rodgers). He is trying to sell his family’s
last asset, a fine wine collection, to keep the family farm going and to
purchase the mineral rights to a manganese mine which he thinks will bring in
millions of dollars. He is in love with Kendal (Minnie Driver), a
successful businesswoman, who is in love with Tom
(Gregory
Sporleder).
Minnie brings her friend Laurie (Amelia Heinle) on vacation to Sachem
Farm and is secretly trying to set her up with Ross so she won’t have to marry
him. Ross sees Laurie as a potential mate for his brother
Paul who is
something of a hermit and prefers to live in the forests and fields that
surround the farm, cultivating gardens out of the wilderness.
Laurie is an old soul who falls in love with Ross
the minute he connects to the music within himself.
Everyone around Ross knows that playing his guitar IS his life purpose, but he’s
convinced that he needs to act responsibly and make money in various ways to
keep the farm going, his uncle cared for and to provide funds for his brother’s
passion which is the garden. He’s so busy doing what he’s doing, he’s lost touch
with reality and living in the present.
Nigel Hawthorne
plays
uncle Cullen, Ross’ very eccentric, subtly flamboyant, calculating, whimsical
uncle who looks like he could be the leader of an ashram he’s so calm and
centered. Uncle Cullen has special-ordered a twenty cubit high pillar which
arrives after Ross has left for town one day after his uncle Cullen has nearly
driven him mad. Cullen subsequently takes up residence on top of the pillar,
without any intention of ever coming back down. “The world needs more people
doing nothing. I think the world could use a few more people capable of sitting
still instead of scrambling around trying to do things.” he tells Ross who is
aggravated that everyone around him seems to be doing nothing to help him with
his plans to purchase the mineral rights to the manganese mine that will set
them up for life.
Cullen, who is
managing those around him in his quirky way from on top of his pillar, asks
Kendal to come visit him after several days of contemplation. He has a job for
her and it involves Ross’s soul. She is afraid of heights so hires a lift truck
to raise her up to the top of the pillar. As he hands Kendal a shopping list
that will cost her $20,000 to fulfill, she looks at it and says, “This will cost
a fortune!”
He replies, “Money
is only a form of congealed energy. Aren’t we lucky you’re loaded.” He says with
a coy smile. “Let’s pool our resources. If you do this for me, I’ll give you
what you want—Tom.”
To get Tom to get
his life back into perspective, he surprises him (I won’t tell you how and ruin
the movie for you.) Ross watches the event from the house and later asks his
uncle, “What have you done to Tom?”
“His karma was
constipated. I gave him an enema.” Cullen simply replies.
At one point in the
movie Cullen says to Ross, “Have you ever wondered why all these things you’ve
been doing are so hard for you? Could it be that you are not supposed to be
doing them?”
There are two guitar
solos in the movie. Mr. Tang (Keone Young) plays the first solo and it is one of
the funniest scenes I've seen, one that I laugh at still, but the best solo part
of the movie is when Cullen conspires with Lori to get Ross to play his guitar
which has been in storage for over two years. “I’ll talk to your brother Paul (Michael
Rodgers) if you play the guitar for us.” Lori said to Ross.
When the music from
within is finally release with passion, it can change the world.
When you listen to
Ross’ solo, you will know this to be so. I was caught up in the beauty of the
music so much so that I’ve replayed that particular scene more than twenty
times. I simply must order the CD! And I realized that I need to be more pointed
in financially supporting those who share their gifts to the world instead of
giving mindlessly to people and things that are not given to the world with
love.
The movie ends with
Ross talking about his story. He says, “It’s so easy to lose perspective on your
life. It’s also not as hard as you think to get your perspective back. I thought
I was here to save my family. It turns, out my family was really here to save
me.
This will be one of
my most favorite movies for a very long time.
Hi Dr.
Moffat. Well,
Holly's warts have gone away just like you said they would! She was wondering if
she needs to keep taking the HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) drops. I was going to
start taking them but I kind of wanted to wait until I was done with the other
two bottles I am taking (urinary aid) and something you gave me for the Staph
infection (herbal tincture, with grape derivative). I am working again at a
job I really think I will love with a lot less stress. My hours are 8-5
however, and I wanted to know if you do readings over the phone after 5pm? If
not, maybe I could set up an appt. to call you on my lunch hour, sometime
between 12pm & 2pm. Let me know what we can work out. Thank you, Ellen
P.S. I
am thinking about possibly doing a reading for my new dog. She is real thin and
I can't seem to put weight on her. Maybe you could tell me what she needs to be
healthy. Let me know what you will need. Thanks
Ellen:
Wow! That worked fast. It’s only been three weeks! Tell Holly “Good job!” I
don’t work after hours or on weekends anymore. Too many years of that and I
can’t seem to remember to be here for appointments after hours with all the
other things I have going on in my life. Guess the lunchtime appointment will
work though. We can do a phone consult. Thanks for updating me! Denice
Tips &
Tricks for a Healthier Life:
Denice:
I got the fennel oil you recommended to apply to my hairy chin and it seems to
be working! Kinda smells weird, but I'm getting use to it. I didn't have
almond oil, so I used olive oil as the base. The hairs are thinner and lighter,
and don't grow as fast. I've been shaving like usual in the morning, then
rubbing on the fennel oil recipe. Cec.
Cec:
Well, you must smell
delectable! For my readers; the fennel essential oil has a chemical in it that
supposedly binds to the testosterone receptors of the hair follicles so that
women don’t grow beards (this is a common thing with women who have cystic
ovaries). The recipe is 6 drops of Fennel Essential Oil to about three
tablespoons of carrier oil. A carrier oil is just a light oil to dilute
the essential oil. I prefer to use cold-pressed almond, apricot, avocado or
sesame oil as the carrier oils in my practice. Cec had only been using the oil a
few short weeks. Good deal. Especially if you have to shave your face every day!
Grawnola Ambrosia
There are a few
renditions of this recipe out there, but some of them didn’t have the volumes of
ingredients to use. This is my recipe. I love it and hope you do, too. I like
recipes where I know the ingredients so I can manage my many allergies. Oh, as a
side note, this would not be the best choice for Blood Type B people as they
don’t do well with buckwheat, sesame or pumpkin seeds. I’m Blood Type O (along
with 65% of United States citizens), so most of the ingredients are good for
that blood type. Enjoy!
Step one--Sprout
grains and small seeds for 2 days:
3 cups
Buckwheat Groats (has lots of Rutin in it which is great for
preventing bruising)
1 cup Millet
1 cup
Amaranth
1 cup Quinoa
1 ½ cups raw
hulled Sesame Seeds (Great for mild depression)
1 ½ cups whole
Flax Seed (Whole flax seeds are a good natural laxative, ground have
antioxidant value)
I rinsed my grains
and seeds once a day and then added more fresh water to cover.
Step two--Sprout for
one day:
2 cups raw
Almonds
1 cup raw
Sunflower Seeds
2 cups raw,
hulled Pumpkin Seeds (Good for balancing hormones of all kinds and
preventing Benign Prostate Hyperplasia)
No, you won’t see
any little green sprouts coming up. You are just activating the nutrient-dense
germ inside the seed. Sprouting makes the grains, seeds, and nuts extra
nutritious.
Step three--Soak for
30 minutes:
2 cups
non-sulphured flaked or shredded Coconut
½ cup dried
Blueberries (Great antioxidants)
½ cup dried
Cherries (Great for those with Gout)
½ cup diced,
dried Apricots (High in Vitamin A—Respiratory system health)
1 cup Raisins
(golden or regular)
1 cup dried
Cranberries (Great for prevention of bladder problems)
Additional
Ingredients:
¼ cup Flax
Seed Oil (Used for all kinds of healthy things. Make sure you keep it
refrigerated.)
¼ cup Udo’s
Choice Blend Oil (Excellent for chronic skin disease)
1 tablespoon
real Vanilla Extract
1 cup real
Maple Syrup (Imitation Maple changes to antifreeze chemicals when humans
digest it)
1 tablespoon
ground Cinnamon (Good for the heart and it smells great!)
Directions:
Rinse the grains and seeds/nuts and put them into a big bowl then drain the
dried fruits and coconut and add the additional ingredients. Place a thick layer
(about ½ inch deep) on mesh dehydrator sheets. Rotate the drying racks
occasionally so the layers are dried uniformly. Dehydrate until crunchy—about 12
-14 hours. Serve with fresh nut milk. Makes 20 cups.
GRawNola takes three
days to make, but it doesn’t take that much time to assemble. It can be stored
in an airtight jar or in the freezer to keep it fresh. I store mine in Zip Lock
baggies in the freezer. You do need a food dehydrator OR you can dry it in the
oven on cookie sheets on low. The goal is to try to keep it as wholesome and
fresh as possible. Heating it too much will kill some of the enzymes you
activated by sprouting all the grains.

process.

I Want It, But. . .
Many of you, as you
set a creation into motion, remove the possibility of its creation at the time
you give birth to the creation.
For example: “I want
a new red car, but it is too expensive.” You see, you have given birth to
your new car on the one hand, and in the same breath you have removed the
possibility of receiving it by your statement, “but it is too expensive”. And
much of that which you would create is voided in just that way.
The statement, “I
want a new red car,” is one half of the equation for creation—the wanting or
intending part. But, “it is too expensive,” is stifling the allowing.
Recognize that you
have only to state, “I want a new red car,” and leave it at that—not setting
forth your counter-creation, your contradictory-creation, your
destructive-creation, your anti-creation or your un-creation.

Go Gratitude 42 Day
Experiment:
Ever notice similarities in how the spiral symbol shows up in everyday life?
Stacy Robyn, founder of Go Gratitude, has developed a special symbol for
gratitude and gives examples of where it shows up in nature. Beautiful short
clip. The goal to the program is to focus on those things in your life every
morning and evening that you are grateful for. It’s a good habit to get into.
Begin here and Go Gratitude!:

John Is the Kind of
Guy You Love To Hate
John is the kind of
guy you love to hate. He is always in a good mood and always has something
positive to say. When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would reply,
"If I were any better, I would be twins!" He was a natural motivator. If an
employee was having a bad day, John was there telling the employee how to look
on the positive side of the situation.
Seeing this style
really made me curious, so one day I went up and asked him, "I don't get it! You
can’t be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?"
He replied, "Each
morning I wake up and say to myself, you have two choices today. You can choose
to be in a good mood or . . . you can choose to be in a bad mood
I choose to be in a
good mood. Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or...I
can choose to learn from it. I choose to learn from it. Every time someone comes
to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or... I can point
out the positive side of life. I choose the positive side of life.”
"Yeah, right, it's
not that easy," I protested.
"Yes, it is," he
said. "Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every
situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how
people affect your mood. You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom
line: It's your choice how you live your life."
I reflected on what
he said. Soon hereafter, I left the Tower Industry to start my own business. We
lost touch, but I often thought about him when I made a choice about life
instead of reacting to it. Several years later, I heard that he was involved in
a serious accident, falling some 60 feet from a communications tower. After 18
hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, he was released from the hospital
with rods placed in his back. I saw him about six months after the accident.
When I asked him how
he was, he replied, "If I were any better, I'd be twins...Wanna see my scars?"
I declined to see
his wounds, but I did ask him what had gone through his mind as the accident
took place.
"The first thing
that went through my mind was the well-being of my soon-to-be born daughter," he
replied. "Then, as I lay on the ground, I remembered that I had two choices: I
could choose to live or...I could choose to die. I chose to live."
"Weren't you scared?
Did you lose consciousness?" I asked.
He continued, ". . .
the paramedics were great. They kept telling me I was going to be fine. But when
they wheeled me into the ER and I saw the expressions on the faces of the
doctors and nurses, I got really scared. In their eyes, I read ' he's a dead man
' I knew I needed to take action."
"What did you do?" I
asked.
"Well, there was a
big burly nurse shouting questions at me," said John. "She asked if I was
allergic to anything 'Yes, I replied!' The doctors and nurses stopped working as
they waited for my reply. I took a deep breath and yelled, 'Gravity'. Over their
laughter, I told them, I am choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive,
not dead."
He lived, thanks to
the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude. . . I
learned from him that every day we have the choice to live fully.
Therefore do not
worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough
trouble of its own. (Matthew 6:34.) After all today is the tomorrow you worried
about yesterday. Author Unknown
A complaint-free
world book
is out to complement the bracelets. This is a good thing because I had to take
mine off for awhile. I guess perimenopause and lack of sleep it getting to me.
Too much partying in our neighborhood. I don't do well when my sleep has been
invaded! I'll let you know how to handle these kinds of things (hopefully!)
after I read the book! Pre-order yours here:
I started the
Holosync meditation program this week. I’m now meditating (if you can call it
that) up to an hour a day. A few clients have talked about this program and one
woman sent me the links to about 20 programs to muscle-test for her so that she
could invest her time and money into “just the right meditation program for
her.” After all that testing, Holosync (http://www.centerpointe.com/)
kept coming up as the number one program, so I purchased a copy.
I’m seeing some
results already. They have a free CD you can order and I liked the sound of the
rainforest, singing bowls and wind chimes. And you don’t have to worry about all
the things going through your head like normal meditation which was a good thing
for me. Many days I sit there impatiently fidgeting and looking at my watch
wondering when my meditation will be over. Oh brother!
The second week I
was meditating and listening to the CD, I thought I had an out-of-body
experience and was so impressed—Then the dog came from behind the chair and the
cat jumped off the back which rocked the chair just like an OBE.
Oh well. Nothing big
this month—except someone did come and talk to me from the other side. This was
one huge reason why I started the program—hoping to hone my Medium skills. It
was kind of weird and amazing actually. . .
One day I kept
thinking of a local chiropractor who had breast cancer. I couldn’t get her out
of my head. I felt I should buy her some flowers, visit her, and contact a
friend of hers, Mark Victor Hansen, to tell him how sick she was. There was an
urgency about it. And I was just working on my website the day before that when
it came up that the
One Minute Millionaire link was broken so I went to fix it (and it wasn’t
broken at all!) Then, Saturday morning we had a Master Mind Meeting and one of
the ladies actually brought this woman’s with her to the meeting and asked if I
had ever heard of her. She had just gotten the book, was reading it and shared
that she wanted to meet the woman.
I shared with her
this was a synchronistic happening as I had been thinking of her all morning.
She said, “Well, it’s more synchronistic than you think!”
She said she had
been reading the newspaper that morning and read Vera White’s column in the
Moscow-Pullman Daily news (which she never reads and doesn’t even like, but felt
compelled to read down to the very bottom) where Vera had written that Dr. Ann
Raymer, a treasured local chiropractor, had passed over!
Ann apparently was
trying to get a message to her friend Mark Victor Hansen for some reason. So I
wrote him a letter and emailed it to his support staff in hopes that he receive
it. We’ll miss you Ann! Thanks for being my friend and for all the referrals
over the years.
