I’m finding that marketing a website is much like spinning 12 plates at one time. First you get something fixed, and then another plate drops. Now my search box is not working. Checked one affiliate program and it wouldn’t let me in my account because it was “inactive” for six months. Actually it took that long to get one company to talk to another then create all the links and finally get it up on the webpage. Now I have to create a new account and repair every link, oh, and use an different email address to do it. And another weird thing… This month I promoted the newsletter by announcing it to several sites. That was quite a job. All in all, it averaged about an hour per announcement with 18 announcements sent. Now I find that strangely enough, not ONE person has signed up for the newsletter even though several people said they went to the site and signed up. Now what? I puzzled about this for a couple weeks, then it dawned on me that the only page they could sign up for the Newsletter was on the home page (which many people did not enter through,) SO I spent a couple of intense days putting the link to sign up on every one of my 231 pages and also added a link for making an appointment. Now that it's done, two people signed up for the Newsletter and I am notified in my inbox by the announcement, “Appointment Request.” Aarrgh! Just another hurdle to jump over. Focus and breathe I tell myself. Lots of time, lots of emails, lots of patience. Are we having fun yet, because I sure am working at it. Other aspects of my marketing seems to have paid off. My total page hits on the server have doubled to over 69,204 this month. Page views, which are more important, I think, were also up. Apparently what really counts though is something called “unique viewers.” They quadrupled. Geez. Live and learn. I’ll tell you how it all turns out next month--if I make it to next month. My computer-savvy friends may decide to do me in for asking too many questions by next newsletter! (Love and kisses to my biggest supporter, Dr. Tami McReynolds!) This month I’ll be focusing on other marketing tricks as well—like how to make the pages “sticky” which means that people spend more time on my site and entices them to spend money there. I also focused on filling in all my page descriptions. I was under the impression that the search engines would grab the first paragraph of the document when people type a phrase into the search box, so I had put quite a bit of time in getting those first two sentences “just right” with key words and phrases. I guess that’s not how all the search engines do it. Hmmm. Bummer on that. Oh well…let’s move on… Question: Should I vaccinate my child, and if so, with what?
Answer: After two decades of research, soul searching, and education with this most controversial issue, my answer has to be--Yes. . .You should vaccinate your child AND your pet for the most common diseases they will be exposed to in everyday life. Now, if I haven’t lost you permanently yet, let me explain... How would you feel if you decided not to vaccinate your child and he/she came down with polio? I have several clients with Post Polio Syndrome, and let me tell you, their life is constant and unending pain. Granted, you may have a bank account large enough to overcome a case of Parvo in your puppy (if it survives,) but is it worth it for the puppy to have to go through that? Or Feline Leukemia in your cat? Vaccines are cheap and effective insurance for these deadly and debilitating diseases. “Well,” I hear you commenting already, “what about all those side effects, governmental conspiracies to give whole populations AIDS, vaccine induced Autism and mercury toxicity I read about caused specifically by the vaccines?” Many studies on the other side of pro-vaccinating show conclusively that more people die when they are NOT given the vaccines than are affected adversely when given vaccines. “But, what it if were YOUR child that ended up with Autism?” You counter. This is how I handle it in my practice. . . I carry a homeopathic nosode that removes all the negative elements of the vaccine like adjuvants and thimerisole (the mercury used as the preservative.) It is a drop that the individual takes two weeks before and up to two weeks after the vaccine to alleviate the side effects of the vaccines. The nosodes I carry are Human Vaccinosis Nosode, Pet Vaccinosis Nosode, and I even have them for horses, cows, sheep and goats. Easy, effective, cheap and safe. Nosodes can also be used AS VACCINES, but knowing society’s busy schedule and the percentages of people that boost their pets at the appropriate time, I would not advise it. It does not seem like a viable solution at this time to dose yourselves, your children, or your pets on a never-fail weekly time schedule. There are also laboratory tests currently available to test the strength of the immune system and how effective it is working from the previous vaccines or from being exposed to the diseases we are currently vaccinating for. If the immune system is strong, it does not need a booster. How much does this cost? I don’t know. You will have to ask your practitioner/doctor. For humans, it may be covered by insurance. Pet insurance is a rip-off. (Oops. . . did I say that? Bad Denice.) So why would one person/animal come down with a disease while the others in the family/litter do not? Immunity is influenced by a variety of factors. Each of us is unique in our ability to fend off disease. Our genes may be strong or weak depending on the combination of our father’s and mother’s influence. Other influences include environmental stress (food, temperature, emotions,) our diets (sugar will temporarily suppress the immune system for several hours after consumption,) our body’s alkalinity (influenced by our diet and the amounts of raw fruits/vegetables/grass we eat,) and the virulence of the pathogen (virus or bacteria). The more virulent, the more threatening to our body. Amount of exposure also influences the virulence. For example, how often do we wash our hands and touch our faces? Did someone sneeze in our face? Did we take an airplane trip and get exposed to all kinds of other things at the same time so that our immune system is going crazy just trying to keep up? Have we taken our supplements? Immune boosters? Have we had enough sleep? How is our attitude? All these things can affect how severely we will be affected and the strength of our immune system. The ultimate decision to vaccinate or not to vaccinate is up to you. Just know that there is a lot of propaganda out there and that the truth lies somewhere in between. I would never place judgment either way on your decision. However, I do feel it’s my job to educate you as much as I know how to, because there are some options to make the vaccine experience safer. Product of the Month: Chitosan Chitosan was first discovered and used in the process of pollution control (like that Exxon oil spill.) There are oodles of scientific studies and papers on this product for all kinds of health challenges as well as pollution control challenges, but when I ask my clients if they have ever heard of Chitosan for their cholesterol, high blood pressure, weight issues, kidney challenges and yeast problems—most have never heard of the product. Nine Health Benefits of Chitosan:
Chitosan is comprised of finely ground exoskeletons of shellfish such as crabs, shrimp, and muscles. After being ground up, the shells are processed with deacetylation which reorganizes this insoluble cellulose-like fiber, giving it a positive charge. Now, fat and cholesterol inside our digestive system has a negative charge. When the positive and negative charges combine (this is a basic law of physics,) it creates a big glob of polymerized fat in our stomach which can now travel though and out the intestines. How to take Chitosan: There are three different ways to take this product, and it works better when taken with Vitamin C (500mg. Vitamin C for every two capsules of Chitosan):
We have used Chitosan all three ways. I have a baggie of them in my purse for “emergency eating situations.” I use them mostly when I know I will be exposed to saturated fats. Unsaturated fats are good for our bodies in reasonable amounts, but most of our diets have WAY more fat that we really need. It’s hidden everywhere. (For more on this discussion, read my Eicosinoid Survey.) Sixty-six percent of our population is overweight, so most of us know that no matter how careful we try to be, no matter how much exercise we do, how many salads we eat, and how much we deny ourselves of goodies, it only takes one splurge to ruin all of our work. Chitosan can help us with these occasional poor eating choices. Notes and Contraindications for this product:

Attracting Perfect Customers Most of us know what we DON'T want in a customer, but wouldn't it be more effective to know what we DO want? Also, how much we are willing to give to the people who we love and to who help us pay our bills. . .or the sales people we associate with.
Well, whatever you think about is what you create. Here's my personal list. I hope it triggers some processing for you, and ideas as to what you want to accomplish for YOUR businesses.
Tips and Tricks for a Healthier Life:
Toothpaste and high blood pressure: Did you know there is often a connection between using toothpaste containing Baking Soda and High Blood Pressure? Need I say more?
Looking for an Aluminum-Free Baking Powder? Your local Watkins dealer stocks such a thing. Why is this important? How about that association between aluminum and Alzheimer’s, remember? (That’s a joke.) Hey Denice: I was researching water systems for my house and your website came up. I was really surprised. What you are doing is really working. Keep it up. Mark W. Denice: Boru loves his new raw food diet -- he thinks he is in heaven. The first thing Pat did when we got home from our appointment with you was to throw out the Irish Spring. He is using Dial soap now. I am going to your web site as soon as I send this email to sign up for your newsletter. Thank you. Colleen Note: Boru came in with some allergies that another vet could not figure out. Using muscle-testing we found several things that needed to be eliminated from his environment, things he was allergic to. We opted for a partial raw-food diet to speed up detoxification and healing.
Hearty Potato Soup
Enough Water to just cover the tops of the vegetables (not too much, or you will have to pour too much off after they cook.) Put all ingredients into a 12-quart saucepan. Simmer on Medium heat about 30-40 minutes until leeks are soft and potatoes fall apart. Discard half the water, or save it for a high-potassium breakfast drink. Mash the potatoes if you like smooth soup or leave it kind of chunky. Whichever you prefer.
If you like creamier soup, add a dollop of Sour Cream to the bottom of the soup bowl before you fill the bowl. Stir and serve. Makes about 6-8 servings. A great Alkalyzing soup. I Wish You I wish you a day of ordinary miracles. A fresh pot of coffee you didn’t make yourself. An unexpected phone call from an old friend. . . Green stoplights on your way to work or shop;
I wish you a day of little things to rejoice in. . . The fastest line at the grocery store; A good sing-along on the radio; Your keys right where you look.
I wish you a day of happiness and perfection. . . I wish you little bite-sized pieces of perfection that give you the funny feeling that the Lord is smiling on you, holding you so gently because you are someone special and rare.
I wish you a day of Peace, Happiness and Joy. Anonymous
Remember to make the time TODAY to do something special for a total stranger. And to have a terrific year!
It’s that time of the year, again, when I am in a wild frenzy trying to get every piece of loose paper filed and all the data into Quickbooks for the accountant. It looks pretty neat and tidy around here. I like starting the year out with a clean desk. Michael and I have a weekly Saturday date. In the wintertime, we support our local businesses and share the wealth by visiting the various restaurants around the area. In the summertime, we support our local Farmer’s Market. Last Saturday, we had our first “working date.” We each took a pad of paper and wrote down over 130 things we had each accomplished in 2005 (instead of focusing on what we had NOT accomplished.) If you would like some input on how to formulate goals, click here. Goals should be in alignment with your Life Purpose and in accordance to what makes you feel alive (your Moving Towards Values). They should be as far away from your Moving Away Values as possible. I believe so strongly in goals (as evidenced by people asking me, “How do you get so much done?”) I’ve finally hit on a technique that works for me on focusing on those goals. I usually accomplish everything on my To Do Lists. . .eventually. The challenge is that some of the tasks that actually help my business to grow get shuffled to the bottom of the pile of papers on my desk. So here’s my current method… String a clothesline above your desk. On 3 x 5 cards, write out each goal you want to accomplish. If the goal is too big, divide it up into do-able segments. Clip the goals to the line with clothes pins. Focus on the first (and most important goal.) Work on it until you get it to completion. Take the card off, write the date on it and put that card in your DONE pile, then move the cards down to the next, “Order Up!” I’m off to a great start. I started a week early, but I’ve completed eight tasks so far including things like:
I’m looking forward to some huge and wonderful projects this year. I’ll share with you as I go. "Everyone has been made for some particular work and the desire for that work has been put in his (or her) heart." Rumi
That’s it for this Month! Be Healthy. Stress busters, health hazards of chlorine, carrot salad, and Willard Water.
